Samantha Lyden and Teresa Burns are an award-winning, comedy writing partnership, represented by Berlin Associates. They specialise in female-led, working-class sitcoms, as well as writing comedy for young audiences. In 2026, they were selected as Women In Comedy on the Rise by WFTV.

Recent credits include writing sketches for Gobby Girls: The After Party (Soho Theatre), BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, and episodes of CBeebies’ BAFTA award-winning comedy, Justin’s House (Series 5 & 6). They have also written several original comedy pilots, including Curveball produced by Rebecca Hewett-Farmer and The Bridesmaid’s Diaries directed by Miranda Howard Williams. Their short, Neil’s Yard directed by Matt Holt, was selected for the BAFTA qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival 2019 and won the 2019 Funny Women Award. They were Comedy 50:50 finalists for the UKTV series commission and their sitcom Catch Yourself On was selected for a live script reading by Female Pilot Club,and was subsequently developed by Sky before being commissioned as a BFI short, shooting this summer, the project brings together an exciting all-female creative team, including producer Gina Lyons of Gobby Girl Productions, alongside BAFTA award-winning director Ruth Pickett (SNL) & exec producer, Caroline Norris (Motherland). 

 

They have  also regular writers for Cartoon Network and recently wrote a pilot for an adaptation of Barbara Throws A Wobbler directed by Joris van Hulzen (Peppa Pig), now green-lit for series. In addition, they’re also currently writing on the new series of Foster’s Funtime for Imaginary Friends, the spin-off for award-winning, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, airing later this year.
