Comedy Writers
Friends for over 10 years, Samantha Lyden and Teresa Burns have been writing together since 2014. They met working for a children’s theatre company and went on to found their own respective theatre companies (How It Ended and ProTours Theatre) specialising in work for children. They share a passion for making children laugh and bringing female-led stories to the screen. They bring authenticity and a fresh, youthful sense of humour to their scripts.
Recent credits include writing on hit CBeebies comedy Justin’s House as well as contributing to this year’s CBeebies Christmas Show and are also regular writers for Cartoon Network.
They have also developed original comedy pilots, Curveball produced by Colour TV London and The Bridesmaid’s Diaries directed by Miranda Howard Williams and Neil’s Yard which was directed by Matt Holt (Andy & The Band, Horrible Histories, Spy School, Topsy and Tim) and won the 2019 Funny Women Award. Their most recent comedy pilot, Prunella was a finalist for the Comedy 50:50 UKTV series commission in 2021 and selected for Female Pilot Club 2022.
